He only stopped over to pick a blind neighbor on his way from work, but unknown to him, he picked a date with death, for that was his last act on earth as some angry extremists appeared on the scene and stabbed him all around.      And so the bread winner was hurried to his unforeseen grave, leaving me and my aging mother in the hands of fate.

He was rushed to the hospital after that horrible incident, but fate speared not his life. Upon hearing the news, a wave of chuck hit me and I passed out, I fainted. I was just in SS3 then writing my mock exam. It was on the 8th of March, 2010 when a major crisis broke out in Jos.

Taking cognizance of the fact that my father was the bread winner of the family, his death was to me, the end of the road. Darkness suddenly emerged and my dreams and aspirations vanished from my sight. My aging mother and I were left at the mercy of family friends and caring neighbors to survive, but the question then was “How far can they go?”
